09-Jan-2002Pacemen Mohammad Hasnain and Tanvir Ahmed routed Rest ofSindh (RoS) for 131 to help Karachi Whites seize earlyinitiative in the second round match of the Quaid-i-AzamTrophy Grade-I at the National Stadium Monday.Hasnain, a former Pakistan junior player, captured sixwickets for 45 runs and Tanvir bagged four for 61 as RoSwere dismissed in the second session’s play after being putinto bat by Moin Khan.The home team had strengthened its grip by stumps when theyreached 201 for four with Mohammad Farooq batting on 15 andMoin on 14.Saeed bin Nasir top scored for Karachi Whites with anattractive 67 that included 12 boundaries. He put on 75 forthe second wicket with Ghulam Ali (27) after Shahid Afridihad returned at the score of 15 after making 10 off eightballs.Hasan Raza looked good and composed until he was declaredleg before wicket when 39. His innings was spiced with sevenboundaries.Hasnain bowled to a teasing line and length on a seamer’sfriendly pitch. However, he made a better use of the seminew ball which he swung and seamed effectively.Tanvir was devastating with the new ball and got all hisfour wickets in the opening session’s play. The lanky pacer,who took five wickets in the tournament opener, made fulluse of the fresh cherry by making the batsmen play andforcing the batsmen into commiting false strokes.
